Train Trip along the River Kwai
The Death Railway regional Train Trip, travelling first on the Bridge and then along the River Kwai is a unique experience and one of the main tourist attractions in Kanchanaburi. The train is authentic, the carriages are basic with wooden seats and open windows serve for cooling. One of the highlights of the trip is when the train passes over a series of sparse wooden bridges with some beams dating back to World War 2 ! A great adventure, not to be missed.
The (slow) train leaves Kanchanaburi station every morning at 10.20 AM and normally arrives .. 65 kilometers later at around 12 Noon time at Tam Krasae Train Station. This is the final stop where the KGT private bus and driver waits for KGT VIP Tour passengers in order to take them for lunch to a not far away traditional exotic rustic Thai restaurant, with no crowd of tourists. Cost per person, of the River Kwai morning railway trip = 100 Bahts (2.5 €)
